About RadixPlants

RadixPlants is a plain-language reference for houseplant care — light, water, humidity, pet safety, and the real-world tips that keep a plant alive rather than just surviving. The name comes from radix, the Latin word for root: good care, like a healthy plant, starts from the roots up.

Why this site exists

There is no shortage of houseplant information online, but a lot of it is thin — a light level, a watering interval, and little else. I wanted something with more depth: the common problems people actually run into, honest guidance on which plants are safe around cats and dogs, and notes drawn from plants grown in real homes, including the ones that proved harder to keep alive than expected.

Who’s behind RadixPlants

RadixPlants is an independent project created by David Ford, a bookkeeper and small-business owner with a longtime interest in houseplants. I understand how easily plant care can slip when work and everyday responsibilities get busy, so I built RadixPlants around practical, forgiving advice for real homes and real schedules.

How the guides are written

Each guide is built to be genuinely useful rather than a data table. Care information reflects widely accepted horticultural guidance, and where I share personal experience I say so plainly. Pet-safety information is included because it matters — but it is general reference, and I always recommend confirming toxicity with a veterinarian or the ASPCA before making decisions for your household.
