Photo Policy

RadixPlants uses images to help readers identify plants, understand their appearance, and recognize real-world growing conditions. This policy explains how we source, edit, label, and use photographs and other visual material.
Our own photographs
Whenever practical, we use photographs of plants that we own, grow, or have personally photographed. These images may show plants in ordinary homes, workplaces, or other real settings rather than in ideal greenhouse or studio conditions.
We believe real photographs are useful even when a plant is not perfectly shaped, staged, or free from minor cosmetic damage. They show how houseplants actually look and grow in everyday environments.
Photo editing
Photographs may be cropped, resized, straightened, sharpened, or adjusted for brightness, contrast, colour balance, clarity, or web performance. Backgrounds may occasionally be simplified or cleaned up when they are distracting.
Edits should not materially change the plant’s identity, colour, structure, condition, or other characteristics in a way that could mislead readers. We do not intentionally present a heavily altered plant as an untouched documentary photograph.
Stock, licensed, and third-party images
When an appropriate original photograph is not available, RadixPlants may use a properly licensed stock image, a public-domain image, or another image that we have permission to publish. We make reasonable efforts to follow the applicable licence, attribution, and usage requirements.
Images provided by readers or other contributors will only be used with permission. Attribution may be included when requested or required.
Artificially generated images
RadixPlants prefers real plant photographs for identification and care-reference purposes. Artificially generated images may occasionally be used for decorative, conceptual, or design purposes, but they should not be presented as documentary evidence of a real plant, pest, disease, or growing result.
When an artificially generated or substantially synthetic image could reasonably be mistaken for a real photograph, we aim to identify it clearly.
Accuracy and plant identification
We make reasonable efforts to confirm that an image shows the plant named in the accompanying guide. However, plant appearance can vary by cultivar, age, season, health, growing conditions, and photographic lighting.
An image should be treated as one identification aid rather than as the sole basis for identifying an unknown plant. When identification matters for pet safety or another important decision, readers should seek confirmation from a qualified local professional or another reliable source.
Captions and labels
Where useful, captions may explain whether an image is an original RadixPlants photograph, a contributed image, a licensed image, or an illustration. Captions may also identify the plant, cultivar, visible feature, or growing condition shown.
Image rights and removal requests
We respect photographers’ rights and aim to use images lawfully. If you believe an image on RadixPlants has been used incorrectly, lacks required attribution, or infringes your rights, please contact us with the page address and details of your concern. We will review the request and take appropriate action when warranted.
Corrections and questions
